In February 2011, Daniel Lahr came to Long Beach, California and began work as a tour guide at the world famous RMS Queen Mary. He came from working at Walt Disney World earlier as "Skipper Dan," and would often joke that he just "got a bigger boat." Yet, the historical significance and uniqueness of the ship would set aside the jokes as this became a monumental task for Daniel.

Working at the ship's Attractions Department as a tour guide, he was able to learn about every single detail about the ship and share it with the daily guests. His love and passion to explore and explain the ship's rich history lead him to become the department's first supervisor in 2012. That year, he over saw the creation of a large now annual event known as "Chill." He also would over see all the other large scale operations for the ship's other signature events, such as the "Scottish Festival," "4th of July Celebration," "Dark Harbor" and the "New Year's Celebration." Not only did he over see those operations and events, but he worked tirelessly to ensure the department was providing a guest experience that exceeded all expectations.

It was for that reason that he was then promoted to the manager of the Attractions Department in 2013. He began to update special effects on the "Ghost and Legends" show as well as re-edit and re-write it's script. He also created a popular "Attractions at Night" program which focused on the haunted aspect of the ship and offered a greater guest experience that lasted into the night. He also created a commercial for the program and is available below:

His work went on to continue to bring an added element of history and wanting to showcase the ship's rich lineage of being one of the grandest ocean liners ever to be built. This continued into the museum portion of the ship, bringing historical areas, such as the massive engine rooms, back to life with new lighting and sound effects. His work lives on in the help of bringing an annual event called, "The Spirit of '45" event at the ship. His love for the ship's history in World War 2 also help land him on the ship's marketing campaign for a photo he helped develop and seen below.
